Cheese Makers

Of course the most important people to mention here are the British Cheese makers who make the wonderful cheese that I am very happy to promote and sell. These are just a very small number of the 200 or more cheese makers working in Britain today.

Sharpham Partnership   The Sharpham Estate in Devon makes British Wine as well as five excellent cheeses. If you are visiting that region and would like a day out they offer wine tasting and a tour of the Estate, which is highly recommended. Find out more at: www.sharpham.com

West Country Farmhouses   West Country Farmhouse Cheese Makers are a group of 13 makers of artisan West Country Farmhouse Cheddar also have a very informative Web Site at: www.farmhousecheesemakers.com

Suffolk Farmhouse Cheesemakers   Closer to home Katherine and Jason Salisbury, the makers of Suffolk Gold and Suffolk Blue opened their new Dairy earlier this year. They also have a farm shop. Find out more at: www.suffolkcheese.co.uk

"I think he said ‘Blessed are the cheese-makers'"

Terry Gilliam in Monty Python's Life of Brian, 1979.

The Cheddar-o-meter   For a little cheese fun I recommend a visit to http://www.cheddarometer.com a project set up between West Country Farmhouse Cheese Makers and a team from Bristol University. Using their invention, the Sarniematic 6 Cheddarometer and their newly discovered formula, you will be able to mathematically calculate your optimum sarnie strata ratio for the perfect cheese sandwich of your choice.
